Here are some ways to treat hemorrhoids naturally:
Diet for smooth bowel movement
Constipation is the root cause for the hemorrhoids. Hence, it is essential that your diet contains high fiber making the stools bulky and soft to prevent constipation. Your diet should contain beans, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, fresh fruits and vegetables, bran cereals, and whole grains. Avoid foods that are non-fibrous such as wheat, sugar, cheese, ice cream, meat, processed foods, etc. thereby avoiding development of hemorrhoids.
Consuming more fruits and vegetables will strengthen the rectum arteries and prevent worsening of the hemorrhoids. Two important chemical compounds – Anthocyanidins and Pythochemicals – found in vegetables and fruits important for your diet to strengthen the walls of the blood vessels and veins.
Drink good amount of water
One important reason for hemorrhoids is constipation and you can control constipation by drinking lots of water every day. Intake of alcohol chili peppers will aggravate the hemorrhoids.
Diet that causes less acidic stools
It is advisable to reduce the acid levels in the stools to prevent itching of hemorrhoids. This can be done by avoiding citrus fruits and its juices, soda, wine, and beer – all of these are highly acidic in nature. Coffee as well as caffeinated products will cause flatulence, reduction in the anal sphincter pressure and increase in sensitivity of the anal skin.
Dietary supplements, tea and medication
Herbal teas are most useful for increasing your metabolism; they remove the toxins in the body and also strengthen the arteries in the rectum. Popular herbal items include Witch Hazel, White Oak Bark, butcher’s broom, barberry, neem, Horse chestnut extract, Psyllium, and Slippery Elm. Herbs can also be applied externally on the affected areas. The most popular one in this category is Aloe Vera, which in the form of gel is useful for soothing and cooling.
Sitz bathing
In order to improve the blood circulation and reduce the swelling and pain in the affected areas, you can take Sitz bath wherein you will sit in warm water covering hips and buttocks. This natural treatment for hemorrhoids is commonly used.
Exercise for breathing
Lie down facing the sky, breathe in and move your belly up; breathe out and lift your anus. Continue for a period of 15 minutes, two times a day.
Regular exercises
Exercising regularly increases the blood circulation in your body which in turn helps in smoothing the bowel movement thereby avoiding the occurrence of hemorrhoids. Obesity also causes hemorrhoids, and by doing proper exercises, you can prevent being obese.
