Stress has a direct effect on your weight. The amount you weigh is a result of how much you worry. There have been numerous studies about the effects of worrying and how that translates to a persons’ issues with weight. Many medical problems can arise due to the excess girth that someone is carrying around their waist and these problems are well documented. Many of these health problems can cause a person to suffer from issues that shorten their life.

Females tend to feel the affects of their nerves around their waistline more. research has been done that shows that a women who is a normal weight can gain additional belly fat if they are placed in stressful situations.

We react to additional worrying by producing something called cortisol. Cortisol has been proven to encourage fat storage in the abdominal area. In order for this not to occur a person must control their nerves before hand because the amount of cortisol in you body remains elevated once it has gone up. In other words, the stress that you feel today could have you on edge, but you must deal with the tension it’s causing in the right way. The level of the bad chemical in your body will be elevated even when you have stopped worrying about whatever it was that you were worrying about. Because a person does not deal with their nerves, the level of the bad chemicals in their body is higher and their body will keep the additional fat around their belly for a longer time.

You do not have to accept a bigger belly as a result of this if you take a few steps.. First accept that the weight is a problem. Don’t watch the late night television advertisements for the greatest weight loss program that is designed to show you how to lose weight fast, and decide that you have to buy it right away, but instead make the commitment to do something about the weight loss issue that you have. Working out is a wonderful way to reduce stress and this fact has been well documented. The benefits of working out are also realized when a person does not get sick as often. Not only is physical activity a stress reliever in and of itself, but the boost in self confidence and sense of well being that you experience afterwards will help you cope with current and future stress. Getting just a half an hour of physical activity in most days of the week can do wonders for your stress levels and it does not have to be at an overpriced health spa, you can exercise in your living room and do the six pack ab exercises that we all learned in the physical education class that was taught in elementary school..
In addition to exercise, some self care techniques can also go a long way in helping you manage your stress levels. There is a lot of information and groups that have found their way onto the internet like the biggest loser forum that can help a person find out the things that they need to do to live a healthier and less stressed life.
A person can make many different choice if they want to worry less. The option that an individual choose must fit their needs. Someone will find that yoga works best for them. Still someone else might need to curl up with a good book. Each person must take the time to figure out what does the best at lowering their anxiety. But there is no denying the importance of finding some way to reduce stress in our lives. It is not good enough to just know why your waist is growing. It will not go away until you take care of the issues that are causing it in the first place.
