It was estimated that around 93, 000 individuals were affected by the recent hip replacement recall. This particularly affected the DePuy ASR XL Modular Acetabular Cup System and the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System. These recalled implants are all manufactured by DePuy which is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. The complaints coming from the users were the reason for the recall of these hip implants. Complications such as excessive hip pains and difficulties in walking were experienced by these users. A DePuy hip replacement lawsuit has been filed because these users felt the need to make this company pay for their irresponsibility.

These hip implants from DePuy do not guarantee to last for a very long time but it was said to last up to fifteen years. Something was really wrong with the hip implant because it was malfunctioning even if it was only used for five years. There is even a need to do a revision surgery on some users. It is only right that these affected people will file a lawsuit against DePuy.

A lawsuit is never good for a company’s reputation because it can be a factor why a person will lose their trust on the company. Now, what is the current state of Johnson & Johnson’s sales after the DePuy hip replacement recall?

It has been found out that the results of these lawsuits have affected Johnson & Johnson’s sales despite having them having other products. Johnson & Johnson’s other products such as contact lenses, cancer drugs, and other medicines have also been decreasing sales after the lawsuits happened. However, Johnson & Johnson does not blame this decreased on the lawsuits but on the current economic condition. The ongoing recession is said to have been the cause of their product’s low sales. People’s financial difficulties are said to be the cause of people delaying to undergo some surgical procedures. As obvious, it would be safe to say that the real cause of Johnson & Johnson’s decreasing profits are the lawsuits from the defective hip replacement implants.
