Numerous non-vegetarians ponder what drives vegetarians to quit meat and adopt an entirely different lifestyle. There is no single answer to this question. Non-vegetarians become non-meat eaters for a number of different reasons – some even for numerous reasons. Most vegetarians state they became a vegetarian for one of three reasons.
The first reason, which most vegetarians claim, is that they have ethical issues with consuming meat. Most don’t agree with how chickens are debeaked, forced to live in tiny cages, and are then slaughtered when they don’t create eggs quickly enough.
A lot of vegetarians also don’t agree with the crowded and stressful environments animals are forced into; and the hormone-filled feed employed to make them grow quicker and produce more. People who become vegetarians for this purpose usually draw ethical boundaries in different spots, based on their personal beliefs. As an illustration, some staunch vegans will not take in yeast, wear wool, or even consume specific vegetables, such as carrots, that demand killing the plant to harvest. On the opposite side of the spectrum, some vegetarians–sometimes called pseudo-vegetarians–will actually consume chicken and fish frequently.
The next biggest reason vegetarians claim for not consuming meat is the fact that it conflicts with their dietary preferences. A few of these vegetarians simply don’t like the feel and taste of meat; others don’t eat it since it has elevated levels of cholesterol and sometimes consists of high concentrations of hormones and preservatives. People who have an interest to learn more on this topic can take a look at this French article about meat-free diet (sans viande) since it contains some helpful point.
The third and smallest group of vegetarians points out environmental reasons for not eating meat. They complain that consumption of meat causes farmers to constantly deforest land to create grazing land for cattle.
In addition to these three major groups, there are numerous of other smaller sets of vegetarians who quit consuming meat for entirely different reasons.
